The U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources S ....

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) provides maps, reports and information to help others meet their needs to manage, develop, and protect America's water, energy, mineral, and land resources. We help find natural resources needed to build tomorrow, and supply scientific understanding needed to help minimize or mitigate the effects of natural hazards and environmental damage caused by human activities.

USGS currently operates about 140 data collection sites in Mississippi for acquiring information on surface-water, ground-water, water-quality, and precipitation. The sites are equipped with satellite telemetry, which provides real-time data via GOES satellites and downlinks, which enables the posting of data to the Web for public dissemination.
