National Public Works Week (NPWW) is observed each year during the third full week of May. The Week seeks to enhance the prestige of the often-unsung heroes of our society-the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet dedication. Through NPWW and other efforts, APWA seeks to raise the public's awareness of public works issues and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations.
Many individual states and municipalities, including the State of Mississippi, recognize the absolute importance of Public Works Departments and their dedicated staff. A proclamation was signed
by Governor Phil Bryant on May 11, 2017 declaring May 21-27, 2017 Public Works Week in Mississippi
in conjunction with National Public Works Week.
